City of Discovery Pipe Band
We are very grateful to the Alexander Moncur Trust for awarding City of Discovery Pipe Band £1,500 to help towards new equipment for our Junior Band.
Our Junior Band provides opportunities for children and young people, including beginners and those who may need additional support, to learn Scottish pipe band drumming in a safe, welcoming environment. Before receiving the grant, our limited and ageing equipment meant that young people often had to share drums during practices, reducing valuable learning time and limiting the number of members we could accommodate.
The Trust’s generous support has helped us towards purchasing new drums, covers and harnesses, giving our young members better access to appropriate equipment for practices and competitions. This will allow us to welcome more young people, improve the quality of tuition and help build confidence, musical skills and friendships.
The funding is a valuable investment in the future of our Junior Band and in keeping Scotland’s pipe band tradition alive within the local Dundee community.
